Tools and access
The PDF tools reduce file size, attempt a chosen target size, merge PDFs, split them, or remove and rotate pages. You can convert JPG and PNG images to PDF and save PDF pages as images. In addition, PDFs with text can be converted into editable DOCX files, text in scanned PDFs can be recognised, and simple DOCX files can be output as PDF.
The six calculators help with file sizes, print resolution, compression ratio, email attachments, upload time and upload limits. Their results are based on your inputs; they do not confirm any actual transfer or acceptance by a recipient.
The tools and calculators are free. You don't need an account, and there are no payment steps or subscriptions.
Advertising is planned to fund the service in future. At present, no advertising or analytics services are active, regardless of any saved privacy preferences. The privacy notice explains whether and which services are used.
Technical requirements and file limits
The tools require JavaScript and the browser features they use, in some cases also WebAssembly. The page and its program components must be loaded; for OCR, this includes the data for the selected language. Plan to have an internet connection for the first start. Device performance and available memory can further limit processing.
In the tools for PDF, JPG and PNG, a selected file may be no larger than 50 MiB; when converting a DOCX file to PDF, no larger than 20 MiB. Depending on the task, further limits apply to multiple files, pages, text, result size and pixels. The complete values and supported document features are listed under File limits and supported features. Passing the size check alone does not yet clear a file for every tool.
From the original to the checked output
- Keep the original and only edit files that you are allowed to use for your purpose. For documents from your organisation, follow its approved editing process.
- Read the requirements of the selected tool and choose the settings for your task. A target size is an attempt with a desired limit; the tool shows whether it was reached.
- Save the result while it is available on the page. Resetting removes the current selection and the download links offered.
- Open the saved file and check the properties that matter for your task. The following overview helps you choose the checks.
- Compare the exact file size with your recipient’s requirements, and only then pass on the checked file.
File processing and saving
The selected original file is not overwritten. The existing tools process its contents locally in the browser. Saved downloads are then located in the storage location you chose. Resetting the tool does not delete these downloads.
If you want to continue editing the result in another tool, save it and select it again there. The file must also meet the format, size and content limits of the next tool. You can find more about the data path under File processing and security and in the privacy notice.
Acceptable use
The tools and calculators are open to everyone free of charge. To keep it that way, please follow these points:
- Only process files you are entitled to use and modify for your purpose.
- Don't use the site for unlawful purposes or attack it with malicious code, manipulated requests or mass automated access.
- Don't circumvent file or usage limits or technical safeguards, such as the limit on frequent contact requests.
Availability, results and statutory rights
The website or individual tools may be unavailable at times, for example during maintenance, technical faults or problems with your connection. We don't promise any particular level of availability. Features and limits may change; you can find the current values under file limits and supported features.
Your result depends on your file, your browser and your device. Compression can reduce image quality, a conversion can change the layout, and text recognition can contain errors. Calculator results are based on what you enter. So keep your original and check every saved file yourself before you pass it on.
